Basic Construction

The Basic Construction of Suits

  • The hide used is 1.3mm to 1.5mm thick. All garments have a double layer of the same quality leather at the following areas:
  • The shoulder, across onto the top arm.
  • Above the elbow bend, down the outside sleeve, to the wrist.
  • Front hip, right around the seat to the other hip.
  • Side of the leg at the thigh area.
  • Front knee, down shin, finishing under where your boot would be.
  • All seams are double stitched, some are triple stitched.
  • All seams except where comfort panels are placed and the back calves have two hidden rows of stitching.
  • As standard you have the option of either Kevlar or perforated leather at the comfort zones. These zones are at the back knee, in the inner crutch and at the inner elbow bend.
  • All suits are fully lined in airtex, this is not removable.
  • On one piece suits there are two inside pockets.
  • On jackets there are two external pockets and two inside pocket.
  • There are options on the collar style, these are dependent on your shape and the type of garment you require, this will be discussed at the first meeting.
  • All suits come with Velcro for you to attach your own knee sliders (If you want it of course).
  • All graphics are laid on top of the basic suit and does not form any structural part of the garment.
  • All CE suits come with impact absorbers at the shoulder, elbow, hip and knee. The back protector is also supplied; these are all CE approved. (See separate Body Armour leaflet)

Body Armour included in suits

The limb impact protectors are designed to provide some protection against injury caused by impact with the road surface in motorcycle accidents. No impact protectors can guarantee you will not be injured but the CE tested Armour will help to reduce the risk of injury.

All CE suits come with impact absorbers at the elbow, shoulder, hip and knee. These are fitted by Velcro to the leather on the suit. This means they can be removed and adjusted if necessary. This also allows you to update your Armour at a later date without any effect on the suit. It is at your own risk if you fit another Armour, be it CE approved or not, as some Armour is not suitable in ZAK suits, please do not hesitate to contact ZAK for advice. ZAK suits are not designed to be worn with a hard plastic Armour.

Back Protectors
ZAK Backs offer protection to soft tissue during impact with the ground. They must be worn under a close fitting CE approved leather garment. If they are worn under a loose fitting garment the protection will be able to move around thus severely reducing its capability of protecting you.

One piece suits
ZAK Back Protectors are worn strapped to your body under a suit, there are two sizes available, the most suitable will be determined when you come for your second fitting.

Two piece suits
ZAK Jacket Back Protectors are inserted into a pocket in the lining of the jacket, this is Velcro fastened so the protection can be removed. There are two sizes and again the most appropriate will be determined on the second suit fitting.
